With proven techniques for overcoming anxiety, obtaining stress relief and how to cure panic attacks, we can show you how to prevent and deal with your symptoms effectively. Without recourse to effective strategies for understanding and addressing stress symptoms, your anxiety and panic attacks may increase, which in turn could create major problems in your relationships, in your work and your overall life. Our counsellor can help you fully understand the causes of stress, anxiety and panic. You will learn essential coping mechanisms and anxiety management techniques to help cease anxiety and manage stressful situations confidently.
2. Trauma
Experiencing trauma at any age can result in depression, emotional or total pain which can be difficult to live with on a daily basis. Our counsellor focuses on our early childhood experiences, our relationships with our parents and the way they related to us and our current relationships. The counsellor will work with you to assist you in overcoming these feelings.
3. Child/Teens
Counselling is commonly known as a ‘talking therapy’ to help bring about change, enhance resilience and well-being. Counselling for children and teens may differ from adult counselling and will depend on the child’s age, specific difficulties and development. Sometimes children are unable to talk about what is troubling them, either because it is too upsetting, or simply because they do not yet possess the maturity to articulate their feelings. As a result, different methods such as play, art or story telling are used to help children express themselves and their emotions. Older children may prefer talking therapy, or a mixture of both, and the counselling approach will depend on the particular individual. Counselling for children is an effective early intervention and has been shown to improve well-being, playing a vital role in the prevention of mental illness later in life. Research also suggests, in time, counselling can improve academic attainment, allowing children to better focus on school and studies.
4. Car Accident Trauma(ICBC Subsidized Counselling)
When you had a Motor Vehicle Accident(MVA), the focus of treatment is primarily physical. The psychological assessment and treatment of the accident is usually ignored. Without psychological counselling, you suffer unnecessarily from emotional or psychological/behavioral difficulties. For some people, these difficulties may be short lived while others may develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. If you have been in a car accident and have reported a claim, you will be pre-approved for counselling sessions without a doctor’s referral. If you come in within 12 weeks of the motor vehicle accident, up to 12 sessions from the date of the accident.
